Confirmation is a time when God calls us together to celebrate life. We, the Catholic Faithful, of St.Joseph and St. Francis Xavier Communities, live, work, play and worship as one body, the Body of Christ. Together, we represent Christ's family and we cooperate with Christ and each other to provide a safe and loving opportunity to be touched by God.
In Confirmation, we participate in the event of Pentecost where the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles (Acts 2,3) and in this case, Pentecost extends through time to descend upon a willing youth, the Confirmandi, through the will of Christ and his people represented by the Parish Family.
The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the Sacraments of Initiation conferring a permanent character of God's image on the soul. An image of God forged in the light of Christ's sacrifice and that of the Parents who have, together, helped carry Christ's cross.
To prepare for Confirmation we gather together in a series of family meetings; confirmation class and Holy Mass, to celebrate and support our youth in the passage from childhood to adult members of the Faithful.
The parents of our youth are extremely important to the process of Confirmation because it is through the cooperation and love of God and the parents that give the Church the opportunity to confirm the child. The Church recognizes the gift of God’s grace granted to spouses through the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Confirmation also fulfills the original Baptismal vows of the parents promised to God from the time of each Catholic child's Baptism. God is calling out to you, each by name, asking you to bring forth your harvest. He has sent his Son and now he is asking you to offer your most precious gifts.
We hope and pray that the parent’s, who have prepared the youth from childhood, are prepared to support the concept that our youth are preparing to enter into the extended family community as young adults who are appreciated, loved and have an important work in building the Kingdom of God on earth.
Thank you for allowing the Parish community and Christ himself to be a part of your family and life.
We invite you to present your youth to the community through the Confirmation Process.
Confirmation Classes are scheduled and mailed to Catholic Families enrolled in the Confirmation Program.
